AIPSSCB, 2015-2016 Hockey Championship, Organised and Hosted by SAIL

SAIL was entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the All India Public Sector Sports Control Board Hockey Championship & the Championship has been organized by SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant at Rourkela from 27th February to 4th March, 2016. Sri Subhendra Das, ED (projects) inaugurated the Championship, in presence of GM TS), MS M.Mohapatra, Arjun Awardee and other senior officers and Hockey loving spectators of Rourkela. In the inaugural match, ONGC team defeated SAIL team by a margin of 4-1 goals.

04 teams from ONGC, AIR INDIA, BSNL & SAIL participated in the Championship. During the Championship Hockey loving spectators of Rourkela witnessed some classic display of hockey skill from a number of flamboyant Olympians and International hockey players including the likes of Adren Desouza, Arjun Halappa, Vikram Pillai, Prabodh Tirkey, Pankaj Rajak, Anand Lakra and many others represented for their teams in this prestigious Championship. Hockey Icon Dhanraj Pilley and Vineet Kumar were also part of the championship being Coach and manager of Air India team.

SAIL team emerged the Champions Team defeating the star studded ONGC team by a margin of 5 - 1 goals in the All India Public Sector Sports Promotion Board Hockey Championship, 2015-16.

In the Final match played on 4th March at Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium. Sri P.K.Pradhan,Executive Director (Personnel & Administration), Rourkela Steel Plant graced the concluding ceremony as the Chief Guest and presented Trophies to the Winners and Runners-Up teams. Also present on the occasion were Sri S.K.Nayak, GM (Town Services), Mr. Michael Kindo, Hockey Olympian & Arjun Awardee, MS M.Mohapatra, Arjun Awardee and other senior officers and a large number of Hockey loving spectators of Rourkela.

Sri P.K.Pradhan,Executive Director (Personnel & Administration), the Chief Guest, in his address, congratulated the Winners & all other teams who participated in the event to make the Championship a grand success. Further, he thanked the All India Public Sector Sports Promotion Board for providing an appropriate platform to budding hockey players to watch and learn the nuances of the game from flamboyant Olympians and International hockey players, who displayed their skill during the Tournament.
