ONGC lifts AIPSSCB, 2015 Hockey Trophy held at Shivaji stadium, New Delhi from 16th March to 21st March, 2015
AIPSSCB, 2015 Hockey Trophy, Organised and Hosted by Air India Sports Promotion Board
Air india has always sportingly flown high in promotion of sports. This year we hosted the “All India Public Sector Hockey Tournament” at Shivaji Stadium, New Delhi from 16th to 21st march, 2015.
Opening ceremony of the tournament was held at Shivaji Stadium in the presence of honourable CMD & President Air India Sports Promotion Board, Shri N. K. Jain (Dir. Pers. & Vice President AISPB) & Shri Jagbir Singh (DGM & Secretary AISPB) Shri J S Waraich Secretary General AIPSSCB on Monday, 16th March at 1430 pm.
Chief Guest of the opening ceremony was Dr A K Balyan - CEO Petronet & President (AIPSSCB) All India Public Sector Sports Control Board. Padma Shri Zafar Iqbal Indian hockey captain & Olympic gold medal winner was the guest of honour and members of participating team officials players along with the Air India officials and renowned international cricket and hockey players.The tournament, with top level players representing their respective public sector organizations, played among teams, which were divided into two groups. The tournament was played on league-cum-knock out basis, starting from early hours till evening. Apart from the winners & runners up, third place & fair play prizes the individual performances were recognized too (for e.g. - best player & emerging player of the tournament, player of the match etc.).
Closing ceremony was held on 21st march 2015 at 14:30 hrs the Chief Guest was Shri Dilip Tirkey (Indian Hockey Captain, Padamshri & Now M.P In Rajya Sabha) Guest of honour: Shri Jagdev Singh Warriach (Gen. Secreatary, AIPSSCB) Special guest: Retired CMO Dr. Dey (Air India) other dignataries: Shri Sunil Dua AGM, Fin (Teasurer), Shri Denzil Fernandez (Admn. Head Coca Cola).
Air India proudly boasts of renowned international hockey national awardees starting with legendry names like Ashok Kumar, P Krishnamurthy, B P Govinda, Aslam Sher Kahn, Zafar Iqbal, Mervyn Fernandez, MP Singh, Dilip Tirkey, Jagbir Singh, A B Subbiah, Ashish Balal, Dhanraj Pillay, Mukesh Kumar, Mohd Riaz, Harendra Singh are some house-hold hockey playing names and complimenting their performances a facilitation ceremony in honour of these sporting icons took place on the final day of the tournament.
The tournament was keenly covered in the print media (newspapers) and their association throughout the tournament and was appreciated by everybody. The attendance of public at the venue was remarkable and increased as the tournament progressed.PARTICIPATING TEAMS

Fecilitation of awardee hockey players of Air India
Air india has number of Padamshri, Arjuna and Dronacharya awardees under its wings and in order to felicitate these prominent figures of hockey special prize was constituted and was given during the closing ceremony of the tournament by Dr Dey (retired AI Director Medical) the awardees were: Shri Mervyn Fernandez, Shri M.P.Singh, Shri Jagbir Singh, Shri Ashish Ballal, Shri A.B. Subhaiah, Shri Dhanraj Pillay, Shri Mukesh Kumar, Shri Mohd. Ryaz and Harindra singh.
The winner’s prizes (trophy and individual gold medals) were distributed by the chief guest Shri Dilip Tirkey (M. P And Padamshri)
The runners up prizes (trophy and individual silver medals) were distributed by the guest of Honour Shri Jagdev Singh Warriach (Gen. Secretary of AIPSSCB)
The 3rd place prizes (trophy and individual bronze medals) were distributed by the special guest Shri Alok Singh, IPS (Director Security, Air India)
Fair play trophy was also awarded to sail hockey team by treasurer AISPB.
